P&O GROUP
• Bell Pottinger led the communications for DP World’s £3.9 billion acquisition of P&O, one of the UK’s best known companies, in the face of a raft of top-level business and political issues
• A global and integrated communications strategy was developed to create a favourable environment for the smooth takeover of P&O. This embraced external and internal communications, a public affairs programme and a communications programme for DP World’s customers
• The communications programme succeeded in communicating that DP World was an international, commercially-viable business, and that the acquisition was being funded in part by debt-financed Western financial institutions
• The deal was covered positively by newswires, UK national, international, regional and trade press and the coverage reflects the messages conveyed at each stage of the transaction.
