Case Study: Stannah Lifts
The Bell Pottinger Group: what could we do for you?

To combat the stigmas associated with mobility aids and change the perception that a stairlift means ‘the end’ by educating people to accept a stairlift can prolong independence and should be regarded as a positive investment.

Who did we need to speak to?
• People with mobility issues – children but more frequently this refers to the elderly
• The children or carers of people with mobility issues
• Health professionals who recommend stairlifts to their clients - Occupational Therapists in particular.

What was the story?
• Strong partnerships, sponsorships and media relations have kept Stannah in the news over past 12 years. Messaging throughout all activity needed to relate that Stannah is a family owned company with products that enable you to lead an independent life.

How was it told?
• A variety of concepts have made Stannah news out of nothing in the last year from tying up with the College of Occupational Therapists to find the ‘OT of the Year’ and running the ‘Funniest Grandchild Competition’ in conjunction with Yours magazine to linking with Arthritis Care to produce the Prime Time Fitness Video aimed at the over 50s, commissioning Age Concern to look in to the views and attitudes of the older generation and producing the Stannah Stairlifts Guide to Best Value – a guide for the public sector about the new government initiative of Best Value. This helped the sales force secure over £20million worth of new contractual business.

Result: Over the last 12 years, we at Stannah, have received continued excellent service from the team at Resonate. Their valued input and creative ideas have helped change perceptions so that stairlifts are on their way to becoming a welcome addition to the home and that Stannah continues to be the natural first choice for the provision of stairlifts.” Jon Stannah, Managing Director, Stannah Stairlifts
