Challenge: Property developer PMG needed to promote its Capital Shopping Park in Cardiff, an integral part of Cardiff City Football Club’s new stadium development. They needed to attract further retailers to the scheme in order to prove that it would be a success for the long-term financial development of the new stadium.
Solution: Good Relations Wales ensured the public was aware of the importance of Capital Shopping Park and promoted the benefits of the retail park to other retailers. Advising on the timing of announcements, we coordinated and produced campaign timings and literature, advising them on engagement strategies for both local and national media and trade press.
Result: Media coverage was achieved in key local/regional media including the Western Mail, BBC Wales, ITV Wales and Real Radio as well as key national trade titles such as Estates Gazette and Property Week. Retailers could see the benefits of locating to Cardiff and being part of the overall new stadium plan. Ultimately, positive media coverage was constantly achieved and Capital Shopping Park now has limited space left to let. The success of the retail scheme has resulted in Cardiff City Football Club’s new stadium being built. The whole site is now open and the Capital Shopping park is performing strongly.
