Strasbourg: The EU’s travelling circus

As MEPs leave Strasbourg today, they will have completed the eleventh of twelve visits they will make to the city this year. As usual, much of the session has been guided by the Parliament’s President Jerzy Buzek MEP.
This is one of Buzek’s last Plenary sessions as President as his presidential term comes to an end in January. Perhaps he will miss Strasbourg until seeing it again in little less than a month’s time. If so, it makes him member of an increasingly small flock of Members of
European Parliament.
As many Presidents before him, Buzek has had to deal with a growing frustration among MEPs about one of the European Parliament’s most long-standing disputes: the question of its multiple seats.
