Mike Humphreys
Mike is Chairman of the sports division of Bell Pottinger. The Division specialises in advising both sponsors and governing bodies/rights holders.
Mike is currently specifically involved with the management of an international sponsorship portfolio for Rolex SA. He is also a specialist in sports crisis management and handled the reputation management for Greg Rusedski during his recent drugs accusations. He worked alongside the (English) Football Association during Euro 2004 with a brief covering the behaviour of the English fans.
Further back Mike set up the first Press Office for the (English) Rugby Football Union and was its PR Director. He worked on the successful bid by Beijing for Olympic Games 2008 and the bid by the South African FA for FIFA World Cup 2006. Mike wrote a Management Marketing Plan for the British Horse Racing Board in 2001 and for the European Golf Tour in 2002 and in particular remains close to the latter, the R&A and other major golf bodies through his work with Rolex.
Mike was one of the first people into the sport marketing business having set up Michael Humphreys & Partners Ltd in 1980. Since that time he has worked in every major sport and a great many of the smaller ones. He has negotiated and managed many high profile campaigns and is a recognised leader in public relations programmes in sport.
